Hello, I'm Emma

As a project manager and parent, I now live abroad as an expat in London, United Kingdom.

A few years back, I moved here with my family. What began as a short-term assignment gradually became a new chapter of life abroad.

How It Started

Moving to United Kingdom wasn’t in the plan for the long haul. Like many international relocations, it started as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far bigger.

The first months were demanding — new systems, new routines, new expectations. Everyday tasks felt more complicated than they should.

The Adjustment Period

There was culture shock, uncertainty, and a lot of learning by doing. But gradually routines settled in. We found places that worked for us, met other families, and began building something that felt stable.

Why I Created Plume Moor Cellar

Most information online was either corporate relocation guidance or surface-level tourism material. What was missing was an honest, everyday family perspective.

This site exists to bridge that gap — pragmatic guidance grounded in real life in United Kingdom.

What This Site Does (And Doesn't)

This site does include:

  • Practical know-how gained from living in United Kingdom
  • Centered on family life and everyday realities
  • Updated whenever real changes occur

This site is not:

  • An official tourism authority resource
  • A paid review platform
  • A generic travel blog

Looking Ahead

Our stay in United Kingdom continues, and the learning journey goes on. As long as the information remains helpful, I’ll keep recording what we uncover.

If you have questions about family life in London or anywhere in United Kingdom, feel free to get in touch.

Best regards,

Emma
